In today’s job market, attracting young technical profiles is becoming increasingly challenging. Traditional recruitment methods often fall short. Flyers, advertisements, and standard job fairs lack the impact or connection needed to truly stand out to this audience.

What does resonate with young people is something interactive and fun, packaged in a medium they’re familiar with. But how do you combine that with presenting a serious technical job? This is where Sibelga, the energy network operator for Brussels, decided to take a different approach.

Attracting young technical talent remains a challenge!

To tackle this challenge, Sibelga partnered with Soulmade. Together, we developed a gamified VR experience that introduces young people to the technical roles at Sibelga in a unique way. The goal? Not just to show what the job entails, but also to highlight how fun and dynamic a career in technology can be.

With this VR application, potential candidates can literally step into the shoes of a technician for a day. They learn about the job, experience what it’s like to solve technical problems, and discover the impact they can make—all in an interactive and engaging environment.

The deployment of the application was made possible thanks to the technical expertise and VR inventory of RTC Vlaams-Brabant. Through their extensive school network, a large number of young students were reached in a short amount of time.

A demo day (RTC) was organized where schools had the opportunity to test the application throughout the day. This allowed the technicians of tomorrow to get to know Sibelga in an innovative way.
